Fall is here! Can you believe it?! I love fall, but we’re living in Texas now, so the leaves and outdoor fall smells are a bit different. We actually won’t get fall for a couple more months.
One of my favorite fall actives up North, was apple picking. That was a true sign that fall was here and that Thanksgiving and Christmas were just right around the corner.
The kids loved it. The orchard we went to allowed us to sample the apples as we picked them. Not all orchards allow that. We had a blast filling our bellies and buckets full of apples. The best tasting ones too.
Now, we just run to the local supermarket to pick out the best apples and make our favorite fall desserts.
If you have children, baking and spending time in the kitchen is one of the best ways to get in some uninterrupted family time. No time for electronic devices when our hands are filled with goodies such as apples and sugar!
The Modern Day Apple Dumplings has been one of our favorite recipes for years. I got it from an acquaintance many years ago and I believe it’s a version of The Pioneers Woman’s recipe, Apple Dumplings.
I hope you enjoy this one as much as we have.
And, Oh, by the way… We only make this once a year! It’s filled with so much sugar, that the sweet taste lasts that long, lol. By no means, is this a health conscious dessert! So eat at your own risk.
