How long have you been married? Maybe you’re a newlywed. Or maybe you have been married for twenty years or more. Whether your marriage has been short or long, I have one question for you. How well do you know your husband?
Once we are married, we would like to believe that we know our husbands very well. Even those us that have been married for many, many years think that we know our husbands. After all, we’ve been living with them for possibly half of our lives. But does that mean you really know them?
Even if you did know your husband very well at one time, circumstances, goals, ambitions and life has changed, for the both of you, many times over the years. It may be time to get to know your hubby again!
Answer the following questions yourself, then ask your husband for their answers. When asking your husband for their answers, you must simply listen and take note. Don’t laugh at his answers. This isn’t a time for arguing or telling him what you think the answer should be.
Questions number 6 will most likely be a hard answer to hear. Take it to heart. Pray about it. Do you need to make a few changes?
If you ask these questions, and you are negative with his responses, your husband will not be willing to answer personal questions again. He won’t trust you with his deepest feelings and emotions. He could find someone else that will! Don’t let that happen.

A couple of things are going to happen after doing this exercise. First, it’s going to take your eyes off of yourself and focus on your husband. Second, it’s going to show him that you are thinking about him and care about his passions and life. Third it will open up communication, maybe even start it for the first time.
Many marriage talks are trivial, just a recap of the day. Asking these questions take your marriage to the next level of discovery. We all have joys, hurts, successes and failures. If your husband hasn’t had anyone to share these with, you want to be the one. Being married isn’t only about having a companion to live with and do life with. It’s about getting to know and serve one of the most precious gifts God has given to you.
Discover who your husband is and open up communication. Communication is one of the keys to a successful marriage.
